Description:
UE325. Burial pit entirely excavated from fill UE324 which had formed inside tomb T7 during the temporary abandonment phase. Its identification was crucial for the correct interpretation of the constructive and burial processes associated with tomb T7. When the construction of the tomb was resumed, the main pit was filled to only a small percentage of its total capacity, so its configuration must have been perfectly recognizable. In fact, the contour of pit 325 was quite precisely adapted to the boundaries imposed by the existing poles: the north-east, north-west, and south-west sides of the new pit run almost exactly along the lines that mark the alignments of the posts, while its south-east side coincides with that of the main pit, which is certainly the only flank of the tomb on which poles were never placed, even though the necessary openings had been made. Pit 325 has the same orientation and a very similar morphology to that of the main pit (UE277), but has somewhat smaller dimensions. This is, therefore, a rectangular-shaped hollow, with straight vertical walls, rounded corners and a flat floor, and with one of its diagonals oriented in a north-south direction. None of the cut surfaces of the pit in question have been found to have traces of possible cladding or tool marks from the time of construction. It is 3.35 m long and 2.23 m wide, providing a useful surface of around 6.85 m2. It is therefore 27% smaller in terms of floor area than the main pit (UE277). Its capacity was around 3 m3. Below UE299. It cuts UE324. Filled by UE300, UE301 and UE326.
