Description:
UE328. Partial collapse of the NW wall of pit UE277 onto its bed, together with numerous artefacts originating from the offering and grave goods of tomb T8. It is the oldest of the fills of the interior pit UE277. It is located exclusively at the base of the north-western boundary of tomb T7. It fills a deep hollow of irregular contour generated by the erosion of the upper part of the previously documented post holes of that location. It is composed of dark brown argillaceous soil, of medium grain and plastic texture, semi-compact and unctuous. It contains some fragments of human bones, and a very high proportion of artifacts, mostly of ceramics: some complete miniature vessels; numerous fragments of shattered ceramics; several small gold beads; arrowheads carved in flint; scattered perforated human teeth, as well as those of dogs and sharks. Its surface is made sheer due to the massive outcrop of artifacts, and it has a slope that, in general, is very steep in descent towards the interior of the tomb, with the result that the thickness of the stratum in question is at its greatest -0.51 m- next to the base of the north-western boundary of the main pit, but it terminates in a wedge on the bed of the tomb just 0.50 m further south. It was found concentrated precisely next to the flank of the pit that cut tomb T8, just below the level of the bed of the tomb. It contains the remains of the grave goods of a burial -very disordered-, and its surface is typical of a collapse. It therefore seems clear that it was formed by the partial detachment of the northwestern wall of the main pit (UE277), which dragged with it part of the offering and grave goods of T8. According to this hypothesis, stratum UE328 is also a consequence of the temporary abandonment of the T7 construction project, and the artefacts associated with it come, for the most part, from offering UE280 and the burial level of T8. Above UE278. Below UE324. Fill to UE277.
