Summary: The pottery found in the tombs of El Caño shares the same style as that produced in the alluvial plains of the region in the centuries between 700 and 1000 A.D. The pottery found in the tombs of El Caño shares the same style as that produced in the alluvial plains of the region in the centuries between 700 and 1000 A.D. The data on the coefficients of variability of the different forms analysed show different standardisation values in the production of polychrome and non-polychrome crockery. The funerary contexts recently excavated in the Caño also indicate that the production of polychrome ceramics was controlled by an elite. This control over the production of certain goods suggests that these were key in the development of the headquarters in the isthmus of Panama and marks the splendorous phase of Coclesana culture....
