Description:
Laminar hammered gold cuff with embossed design. The cuff has the shape of an open truncated cone and has four holes for tying, two in the part with the largest diameter and two in the part with the smallest diameter. It forms a pair with another bracelet (ID 443, registration no. 4758).
Each of the cuffs is embossed at one end of the opening with what appears to be the stylised figure of a crocodile in profile. This image is not easy to recognise with the naked eye as both cuffs are quite deteriorated. The figures have a serpentine body with seven truncated triangles along its external profile, a barely differentiated head, teardrop-shaped eyes, elongated snout, open jaws, and a curled nose that projects upward curving over the head. This performs the double function of nose and crest, which is observed in other figures within the style. The two figures, organized with a central symmetrical balance (rotated 180 degrees), form a pair that can be interpreted as a variant of the mythical double crocodile. Conte style.
