Description:
Collection of bone flutes.
Conservation treatment:

The flutes were consolidated with Butvar B98 in Ethanol on Japanese paper with the aim of keeping the small bone fragments in position at the time of restoration. The small fragments of the flutes were stored in bags during the excavation process with the attached context information. This was then lifted as a whole using flexible plastic, cotton, aluminium foil and plaster, in order to be excavated later in the laboratory. This was then transported to the laboratory in a recycled cardboard box after being packed with bubble wrap. Consolidated in the field by Carlos Mayo. In 2014, the conservator Ileana Olmos proceeded with the consolidation of one of the fragments of one of the flutes. Given the fragility of the object, initially consolidation was carried out with a 6% solution of B-72 diluted in acetone (mainly small portions). The tiny fragments were classified according to composition and size. Many of them had such a degree of deterioration that they disintegrated. After being consolidated, a part of the object was assembled. These fragments were glued together using a 50% solution of B-72 diluted in acetone.
